VillaJaume Ramona

A century of stone. A winter of transformation. A house reborn.

"Mon cor estima un arbre! Més vell que l'olivera,
més poderós que el roure, més verd que el taronger,
conserva de ses fulles l'eterna primavera,
i lluita amb les ventades que atupen la ribera..."

Miquel Costa i Llobera  —  El Pi de Formentor, Pollensa 1875

"Ai, qui pogués, ànima mia,
de les grans mars sobre les ones
volar alegre com les àguiles
que fendixen los horitzons..."

Before the Awakening

An Ancient
Mallorcan Soul

Tucked within the quiet folds of the Colonya Valley, where centuries-old olive trees keep vigil over the great possessions — the manor estates of old Mallorca — stood Jaume Ramona. A house of weathered limestone and hand-hewn timber, wearing its centuries with quiet dignity.

The air inside carried the memory of generations. Stone walls caught the slant of afternoon light in a way no modern surface ever could. The old kitchen fireplace had long gone cold. The pool lay in stillness beneath an unchanged sky. Beautiful, yes — but slumbering. Waiting, as all great things wait, for its season of rebirth.

Winter 2019 – 2020

The Great
Awakening

Through the cold, still months of a Mallorcan winter, craftsmen arrived. Stone was cleaned, not replaced. Beams were restored, not hidden. What was ancient was honoured with reverence — what was tired was given new life. The result is a house that holds its history in one hand and its future in the other.

The Renaissance

Every Corner,
Reconsidered

The renovation of Jaume Ramona was not a demolition — it was a conversation between centuries. Here is what the winter of 2019–2020 brought to life.

🏛️

Stone Walls Honoured

The original exposed limestone — laid by hand long before living memory — was cleaned, repointed and celebrated. Not a single wall was plastered over. The stone breathes still.

🪵

Ancient Beams Preserved

Centuries-old timber ceiling beams were treated and lovingly restored. They remain visible throughout, connecting today to yesterday with quiet, permanent authority.

🛁

Five New Bathrooms

Four bathrooms were completely renovated with fresh tiling and fittings. A fifth — placed outdoors beside the pool — was added for the pure pleasure of summer living.

🍳

The Kitchen Reborn

Fully redesigned with modern surfaces, a glass-ceramic hob, oven, and dishwasher. The ancient fireplace remains as a treasured relic — honoured, not erased.

🏊

The Pool Transformed

Completely renovated and retiled, the 9×4m pool now glows brilliant blue. Roman steps were added. The surrounding terrace was expanded to include Balinese day beds and sun loungers.

Light Throughout

A new layered lighting scheme was designed throughout every room — warm, modern, and thoughtfully placed to honour the architecture rather than compete with it.

After Sunset

Where the Day
Surrenders to Stars

In the Colonya Valley, nights are profound. The mountains hold their dark shapes against an infinite Mallorcan sky, and Jaume Ramona glows — warm, golden, unhurried.

Where You'll Find Us

Heart of the
Colonya Valley

Jaume Ramona sits among the ancient farms of the Colonya Valley, reached from Pollensa along a narrow road that winds past centuries-old olive groves and the great Mallorcan possessions — manor estates of a quieter, older world.

It is a place of profound silence and extraordinary light. The Serra de Tramuntana — a UNESCO World Heritage mountain range — frames the horizon. Here, time moves differently.

In the Words of Mallorca

"La terra és vella i sàvia com el mar —
guarda secrets que el vent no gosa dir;
però el que sap estimar i el que sap viure
trobarà aquí tot el que cal per ser feliç."

"The land is old and wise as the sea —
it keeps secrets the wind dares not speak;
but those who know how to love and how to live
will find here everything needed to be happy."

After Joan Alcover i Maspons  —  Pollensa, 1900
